Hotel Information

Description
Apartment | 2 Bedrooms | 5 Bathrooms | Sleeps 4 This part of Paris is known as 'Les Grands Boulevards'. The Grands Boulevards are long chains of avenues that join the Madeleine to the Opera to the gates of St. Denis and St. Martin, the last to the place de la Republique, and the Republique to the Bastille. They were laid out in the 17th century on the site of obsolete city walls and served as a centre of café and theatre life in the 18th and 19th centuries, reaching the height of fashion during the belle epoque. One of the oldest music halls in Paris, Les Folies Bergere that has been around for 130 years, is just around the corner. Even today, if you ask a Parisian, they will say that it is their 'Broadway' and they still love to stroll through the area to feel the pulse of the city. Location This apartment is very central to many sites and shops. It's a fifteen minute walk to Au Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, a twelve minute walk to Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, and Sacre Coeur, a ten minute walk to Musee Grevin and Musee de la Vie Romantique, a thirty minute walk to Jardin des Tuileries, Place de la Concorde and the Champs Elysees. You need not go to the Tuileries to see some greenery though as the street overlooks a quiet little park called Square Montholon. If you prefer not to walk, there are two metro stations, Cadet and Poissoniere, a couple of minutes from the flat. There are also buses you can catch on rue Lafayette or a taxi rank, if you are in a hurry. The overall size of the apartment is 73 square meters. You have two double bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, a salon/living room with a sofa, an entrance hall with separate WC, fully equipped kitchen and a large dining room. The flat is furnished using French fabrics such as Toile de Jouy in the bedrooms and silks, etc., in the other living areas. The owners made a lot of trips to local brocantes and had fun finding some lovely antique furniture and objects. The decoration has been kept within the period style without sacrificing modern comforts. From the moment you enter the apartment, you'll be struck with the meticulous detail gone into decorating the flat fitting with the times of the mid-late 1800's. The doorway you walk through, a stately double door, takes you to a foyer where a beautiful marble table sits with a mirror hung over it. The WC, kitchen, salon and dining/sitting room are all off of this hallway. Upon entering the kitchen, you'll see a doorway leading to the dining table which seats six people - very convenient when preparing dinner with your groceries purchased at one of the neighbourhood markets. The closest one, on rue Cadet, is open in the evenings. Additionally, rue des Martyrs is only about a seven minute walk away and has an abundant selection of food stores. The square by metro Anvers, a few minutes away has started a Friday evening marche as well. If you choose to visit this one, you have a lovely view on Sacre Coeur as you walk toward the square. The owners, by the way, are chefs so they have equipped the kitchen with all you could need: blender, food processor, toasted sandwich maker, cocotte, pots and pans, etc. In the same room as the dining table (see photo at top the top of this page), there is a classic love seat covered in vintage tapestry with decorative cushions. It faces a large wardrobe with a full-length mirror on the front of it. In front of the window in this room is marble table with two chairs where you can enjoy an early morning cafe or evening nightcap. There is also a television with DVD player in this room plus a stereo with a CD player. When you enter the salon, you can sink into the comfortable sofa or sit at the long table that doubles as a desk to write postcards of your stay in Paris. Beside the window in this room is another antique marble table with chairs - a perfect spot to sit and read. You will notice that every room has a window, providing a constant stream of light. This room, like the others, is decorated with richness and splendour. Access to both bedrooms is through separate doors in the salon. The master bedroom, shown on the right, has a beautiful antique bed frame with head and footboards all accented in blue. In the corner of the room, a mirrored vanity table allows space for you to put your everyday affairs or some wonderful French perfume you may have purchased. The ensuite in this bedroom has a toilet, sink and a bathtub with shower. The guest bedroom has a closet (door to the right of the secretary/chest of drawers) that houses a combination washer/drier. Again, meticulous attention has been paid to the details: bed cover with matching pillows and window covering accented in red. The ensuite for this bedroom has a toilet, sink and shower. TERMS AND CONDITIONS -Your Paris vacation apartment is cleaned before you arrive and after you leave without an additional fee. For stays shorter than a week, additional charges may apply. -Check in Time: 4:00 PM Check Out Time : 10:00AM. For check in/out before 8:30 or after 20:30, special arrangements will need to be made and there is a charge of 50 Euros. This fee should be paid in Euros/cash only directly to your greeter when you arrive at your Paris vacation apartment. -It is important to realise that renting a Paris vacation apartment is not the same as renting a hotel room. You are staying around regular people who live and work in Paris. As a result, you may hear the noise of someone walking above you or other noises related to regular residents. For the most part, there is rarely excessive noise but it can happen from time to time that someone may have a party or friends over later than normal. In this case, the polite thing to do after 22:00 is to knock on the neighbour's door and ask them nicely to be a bit quieter. -The security deposit will also be applied to long distance telephone calls not included in the apartment's phone plan as well as the loss of keys and/or damage of locks. Please do not leave keys in the back of the door inside the apartment. We will then need to call a locksmith to gain access and you will be resposinble for these charges. -Although our rates include cleaning after you depart, if the Paris vacation apartment is not left in a reasonably tidy state, we will apply part or all of your security deposit toward the extra cost of cleaning.
